Hello My Friends! Today is the day! The new Coco Avant Chanel movie is being released in France today. Those lucky ducks! If you do not speak French you may be waiting a while for the subtitled version. I cannot wait to see this movie. I am a huge fan of Coco Chanel. Not as much for the fashion (which is amazing) but more so for her life story. Very inspiring, very controversial, very real.

Audrey Tautou (of Amelie fame) is playing the young Coco. The stills from the film are stunning.

I can hardly contain my excitement!

What I wouldn't give to walk the back areas of the atelier! Who has Karl's number, I need a personal tour!

The photo shoot in Coco's apartment on Rue Cambon. I did a post on Chanel and her apartment many moons ago. Here it is if you are interested.

Some fabulous pics of Audrey for you.

I love this one! Very reminiscent of another Audrey to me!

Wow! I thought she was a great fit as the young Coco. Then I saw this image of Coco and Audrey next to each other. Definitely a match. I can imagine this is close to what Chanel looked like in her youth.

And, of course an image of the legend herself! If you are lucky enough to view the film, I would love to hear how it was. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Until next time!

  2. Audrey is fab! This film is on my must-see list. You know I'm two degrees separated from Audrey? She's the cousin of an ex-colleague of mine. Hey, two degrees is better than nothing...

  5. This might mean I have to fly to France just to see this movie....but since that isn't possible I'll just have to be patient, but I am dying to see this movie too. I'm with you on seeing an Atelier, that would be on my dream list of things to do, shadow someone like Karl Lagerfield.Great post!

  11. Judith,
I just learn so many interesting things from your blog that I think to myself I should already know-but I don't! I just love Audrey Tautou; she is my absolute favorite actress. I have to watch every movie that she's in. I never realized that these too women were so similar in appearance yet the side by side image shows it (as you stated) Wow, it just seems like Audrey Tautou has so much going for her- her beauty, her charm, her talent, and she looks like Coco Chanel! I KNOW that I will be purchasing this movie! I can't wait to see it!

  14. Oh how I'd love to see this! Maybe we'll be lucky here in Quebec (since it is a French province after all)- and we do get releases in French first- and- we also get all the foreign films first...so I'll definitely be looking out for it! Thanks:)

  16. Judith,
    Je t'adore ma petite.

I also a huge fan of Gabrielle Chanel, she is truly an inspiration to women and raw model of how to become succesful. All her work is of superior quality, being a craftsman myself I so enjoy to see the very fine finish of small details.

Now I have to wait even longer to see this movie being presented in Sweden....so Paris in spring, why not.

Á toute a l'heure et merci, ma chère.

  18. I can hardly wait to see the movie myself! I am currently reading a book about Chanel. I found it amazing that she was once a milliner and didn't let class barriers prevent her from following her dreams.
